Stoney Sunday and Self Love
Autumn is such an exciting time of year, winter is on its’ way and a new year is approaching, but it can also be a tiring and draining time. I love the crisp leaves crinkling and crackling under foot, I love the fresh, cool, refreshing bite of the air. The promise of snow floats through on the breeze. Fall is the sign that winter is on it’s way, but it’s also a time when life seems to slow down, and is a good time to refocus our energies and priorities. I personally find myself affected by the lack of sun and the colder weather, especially up here in Washington, and sometimes find it a little bit harder to motivate to do daily tasks and take care of myself physically and mentally. So with today being Sunday, I figured it would be the perfect day to focus on Self Care and Self Love.
Taking care of yourself first and foremost is the most important thing you can do. It’s important to rest, recharge, and refuel. It’s important to take a day to reset and do things that are going to help your mental, emotional, and physical health in the long run. You can’t take care of anyone else if you aren’t first taking care of yourself and making sure you are in a good mental and physical space. It is important to take care of yourself and make sure that you are happy, healthy, and moving in the right direction before you start to give yourself to others and lend your energy to tasks that may be daunting or draining. Never feel like self-love and care is unimportant, it is one of the best things you can possibly do for yourself and in turn those around you. It is one of the most important things you can always do for yourself, take the time to take care of yourself, you are the only one you have and you deserve it. Here are some of my personal goals, ambitions, for days dedicated to self-care and nourishing my soul. By no means are these things I guarantee will help you personally, everyone is different, but hopefully my ideas and rituals will help you come up with some of your own ideas or help remind yourself what is important to you and taking care of yourself. Sunday’s are a day of reset for me, depending on what I choose to do, there are a variety of ways the day could go. Personally my ideal day would have smattering of relaxing, nourishing, informative, and outdoor activity.
My ideal self care Sunday starts with a big bowl of a happy, giggly sativa out of my bong. A big, strong cup of coffee, and a good book cuddled up with my dog. And then a delicious, healthy, and nourishing breakfast and some time spend moving my body, stretching or yoga, to thank it for all it continues to do for me.
After getting the morning going I love to take time for my dog, and myself I like to go outside and take her on a nice long walk, or a hike depending on the day. Seeing her happy makes me the happiest and being outside is good for everyone. It’s important to take time in nature, if it’s not a hike, maybe a day longboarding or skiing. I also like to try and take pictures whenever the mood strikes on these outings. After taking time outside, unless I have gone on a hike or ski, I remember to work my body. Smoke a tasty, uplifting hybrid and go to the gym, go run, do some yoga. Thank your body for all it does for you by moving and exercising, by reminding it that you haven’t forgotten it’s importance. It is extremely good for not only your physical health but also your mental health to get your blood flowing, heart racing and a lil sweaty consistently.
After using my body and getting outside I like to thank it by nourishing it with a good meal, lots of water and a nice stoney bowl or dab (or ten). Taking time to you to cook a good meal, and enjoy it with the people you love, or just by yourself, is so good for the body and soul. Creating things that make you happy, like baking edibles, crocheting, reading, or taking pictures is also a good way to nourish your mind and do something that will start your week on a good note for you personally.
Ending the day with a heavy indica, some dabs, some more stretching, topicals and puppy cuddles are always key. Even potentially a nice medicated bath and a tasty joint, don’t forget lots of water to drink! I love to cuddle up in bed with my love and a good book with plenty of time to rest before the craze of Monday and the week starts all over again.
Now I am in no means saying this is everyone’s’ ideal Sunday, maybe you desire brunch and mimosas and time with friends, whatever fuels your soul and helps you recharge, reset, and refocus, DO IT! Make yourself feel loved, nourish your soul and body, they are after all the only one you get! Don’t for get to eat good food, drink lots of water, get some fresh air, and don’t forget to do what makes you happy! It’s all about taking care of yourself, you can’t expect the best from yourself if you don’t treat yourself the best you possibly can! I hope you all have an amazing day, and find ways to nourish your souls and be grateful for this beautiful day! Stoney Sunday is all about taking time for yourself, doing what makes you happy, and setting yourself up for a successful week ahead! I hope you all get super stoney and have an extremely restful and wonderful day!
Stay Stoked, Stay Stoned!
Essentials for Adventure!
Happy Weekend!
Hopefully everyone is getting out and enjoying the outdoors! Whenever you’re going outside being prepared, and having the essentials is key. Knowing where you’re going and the regulations is also extremely important! Don’t forget to do your research and know the type of land you will be traveling on (National Forest is still federal property…). Also don’t forget public consumption is still illegal (in most places) so be smart and safe!
Below is a list of essentials for a day out adventuring:
Water (cotton mouth is not your friend!)
Snacks (munchies are always necessary)
Cannabis: preferably vape pens or joints and edibles (quick, discrete and easy to carry)
Map (don’t get lost!)
Flannel or Hoodie (you never know when you’re going to need an extra layer)
Sunscreen (soak up those rays but stay pretected!)
Sunglasses (for the sun and those stoney red eyes)
Camera (capture the good times)
A dog and friends (to enjoy life with)
I hope you all have a great weekend, don’t forget to be conscious of those around you. Pack it in, pack it out! Be prepared, have fun, stay safe, stoked and stoned!
The 7 Principles of Leave No Trace-stoner style!
Cannabis and the outdoors have always made a perfect pair. Cannabis enhances the tranquility, experiences and teachings of the wilderness. With cannabis use and adventuring in nature becoming increasingly popular it is extremely important to take the proper to steps to protect yourself, others and the area you are exploring! When heading out to adventure there are 7 basics steps that should always be followed, these are the Principles of Leave No Trace. These principles will help keep you, your experience, others and the natural world safe and as pristine as possible for future use and generations to discover! I have taken these 7 principles and made them cannabis user friendly. Always remember to consume and adventure responsibly, happy trails!
The Seven Principles of Leave No Trace (LNT)
1. Plan Ahead and Prepare: Know where you are going, the rules, regulations and potential hazards. Bring a map, compass, water and food for your outing. Always pay attention to trail markers and Cairns. Be sure to repackage food and smoking accessories to minimize waste. Many recreation areas are National Forest and BLM Land, which are Federal property meaning Cannabis use is illegal, and public consumption is still illegal in most states. Always travel in small groups, and avoid times of high use-be aware of others around you (especially families).
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces: Durable surfaces are established camp spots, trails, grass, snow, rocks and gravel. Camp at least 200 feet from lakes and streams, in already established spots, and do not alter sites. In popular areas use existing trails and sites, use areas where vegetation is absent. In pristine areas: avoid areas where wear and tear has already begun, spread out use. Be mindful of places you stop, sesh or rest, do not alter the environment around you.
3. Dispose of Waste Properly: The common phrase is pack it in, pack it out! This means everything, packaging, matches, roaches, ash and trash. Including used water from bongs and rigs. Be aware of water sources and do no wash within 200 feet of them, and always be aware of fire danger. Create habits for going out and exploring the world while doing so responsibly and respectfully.
4. Leave What You Find: Help preserve the environment for others to enjoy as nature intended. Leave rocks, flowers, wildlife, trees, and streams how you found them. Do not build trenches, furniture or structures; instead enjoy your cannabis and the world around you without altering it! Queue your mothers’ singsong voice “Take only pictures, leave only foot prints.”
5. Limit Campfire Impacts: When enjoying a campfire always remember to burn it completely to ash. Make sure the ashes are cooled and then scatter them, if that is not possible drown the ashes completely with water. Remember as always not to leave any evidence of your presence in nature!
6. Respect Wildlife: Do not follow, approach, or feed wildlife. Always secure your cannabis, food, and trash. Be respectful and do not disturb any wildlife.
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors: Always be courteous and aware of others around you and their experience. Always consume responsibly and be respectful of the presence of others, especially families. Take breaks and camp away from others when necessary and, avoid loud noises and voices. Always enjoy your adventure but ensure you are not detracting from others’ experience as well!
All seven of these principles apply to any adventure in nature but are especially important when exploring and consuming cannabis. Our world is an extremely interesting and diverse place, so why not explore it? Be sure to always know where you are going, bring food, water, extra clothing and let someone know you are leaving. Remember to always enjoy yourself, recreate and consume responsibly, and leave no trace!
Enjoy your world!
Before I became a Cannabis enthusiast, or even interested in Cannabis for that matter, I was (and still am) in love with the outdoors. Growing up adventuring and playing in the mountains instilled an incredible respect for nature in me. Every time you venture into the mountains, woods, or desert you take a chance, you have to be prepared and conscious of your actions. Especially when choosing to recreate and consume cannabis you must always be aware of your surroundings and actions. It is my hope that through this portion of the website I will help inspire others to get out into the world, explore and consume responsibly and respectfully!
